About Owner and Founder
Timothy Lewis was born and raised in Pelican Lake First Nation; a small Cree community located two-and-a half hours northwest of Saskatoon. Tim comes from a family of nine children, six girls and three boys. His mom, a retired kindergarten teacher, and his father, a retired bus driver and grain farmer, are both still residing in Pelican Lake.
He graduated from Pelican Lake School, and then moved to Saskatoon to pursue university. He received a Certificate of Indigenous Business Administration (CIBA) from the First Nations University of Canada, and a Marketing degree from the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan.
tansi clothing was created in his second year of university. He noticed that students from other countries would wear clothing that promoted their individual language and culture. After much research, he found there were no clothing companies who were promoting the Aboriginal language, and thus, the thought to create tansi clothing was born.
