New Designs

Aug 21 — 0 comments

tansi,

tansi clothing has recently added two Metis images that promote the Michif language, The two new designs include a picture of Louis Riel with the word pride and a picture of a family in a cart with the word courage below the image. We have also included three Cree words: Strength, I Love Life, and another tansi. The new tansi is an image of a kohkom with the word tansi below.

tansi clothing will be introducing eight, possibly ten, more designs, by the end of August. The new designs will include words by the Dene, Inuktitut and Ojibway. You can see a sneak peak of the designs on the facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/tansiclothing

Further, there was never a public statement as to what happened on Dragons Den. We were not to say anything unitl the show aired or didn't air. The outcome was they did not want to invest in a company that was in its start up phase. It was disappointing and a costly experience. I learned much from the whole experience, especially how to analyze a business plan, which really comes in handy. It also forced me to look at tansi clothing and what could have changed the outcome, like more designs, then possibly it would have been different. A goal this year is to introduce in total five language groups but also bring forth 25 designs in 2010.

Best Regards,

Timothy Lewis

Looking Back

Dec 20 — 0 comments

tansi,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Wow another year gone. Below are some of the highlights for tansi clothing.

tansi clothing in 2009:
1) tansi clothing goes green. A commitment to only produce and sell clothing that is eco-friendly. All our clothing will be made with organic materials, including bamboo. I chose bamboo because of its hardiness. No pesticides or herbicides are used on the plant.

2) tansi clothing made an appearance on Indigenous Circle. You can see the video in the video section. My first television appearance. Fun times. I enjoyed being on the show.

3) I went to Toronto to do a taping for Dragon’s Den. Got to meet all the dragons. They have not yet contacted me when it will be on television. I am waiting on word from the Den. The whole experience was interesting to say the least.

4) Almost shut down tansi clothing because of the difficulty of running a business with little capital. I chose to not take that route because of my love and passion for the business. My gut feeling says to keep on going.

5) tansi clothing is also on twitter. You can follow tansi clothing and learn of any new developments: Twitter

6) tansi clothing introduced 3 new designs and more to come in 2010.

7) tansi clothing will be doing a small fashion show for Whore Frost, a News Year’s Bash. Whore Frost will be happening at the Odeon. Learn More about Whore Frost

tansi clothing update

Nov 19 — 0 comments

tansi,

Its been a long time since I posted on my blog. I have been busy with my new job at the Sask Native Theater Company. I am doing some marketing for them as a part-time job. But I have been also trying to get some funds to purchase new inventory and get some new designs. I have been working with this design company from the UK to create me some new designs. I have two on the works right now which I hope to unveil by Friday, depending on their schedules.

I was to be at a fashion show on Friday but unfortunately I was not able to get my shirts printed on time. One of my problems always seems to be I don’t get stuff in on time to the screen-printers. I’m hoping to have them printed for the fashion show for November 28th.

I got a hold of this company from South America for some Mayan translations. I want to promote the Mayan language because I am fascinated by them. Plus the year 2012 fascinates me and the anticipation of what will really happen is interesting. The first word I have gotten translated is earth. I hope to unveil that one very soon.

I promise to keep my blog updated more often.

tansi clothing update

tansi,

Yesterday the greatest thing happened, a friend made a small investment to tansi clothing. I am very grateful and taken back by the whole thing.

tansi clothing has purchased some clothing and will be on the war path again. My next gigs will be at the Aboriginal Students’ Centre Banquet and the 6th Annual Aboriginal Music Festival. The transition back to selling will be slow but thought out painfully. I am going to take the careful road and ensure the past mistakes learned are not repeated. Live and Learn.

tansi clothing is working on getting Michif translations. I will let you know when the translations are completed. Promoting the Metis language will be fantastic and I know many are looking forward to promoting the Michif language.

Aboriginal Talent

Jun 28 — 6 comments

tansi,

I am putting together a list of Aboriginal talents currently out there in the music and acting industry. Please take a look at my current list and recommend more names to be posted. I will be updating the page every time I receive or find new names.

I am creating this list because all too often Aboriginal success is not recognized and I want to show in one space the heights we are reaching.

Plus, if want another category, please let me know. I am open to all feedback and suggestions.

Thank you,

tansi clothing status

Jun 15 — 0 comments

tansi,

I am writing this update to clear up the status of tansi clothing. I have a desire to expand tansi and take it to the next level, which includes more clothing options and more designs. To see that next level, dollars are necessary to reach those heights. tansi clothing in the mean time will focus on selling t-shirts online.

I am working with designers to create some new designs and concepts. I am excited to see the new designs and images yet to come.

The inventory levels will stay low for a while but I am working hard to get inventory and options increased. I will keep you posted on all new developments.

Thank you to all those who are pushing me to continue with tansi clothing. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

April Update

Apr 28 — 1 comments

tansi,

There has been much activity for tansi clothing. I have been super busy and going nuts writing out my business plan. I am so sick of numbers. arrrrrggggg. haha. Secretly I kinda like it.

tansi clothing update:

I did my small stint at the FNUC Powwow on April 4th in Regina. I had a blast and my models rocked the runway. I took my niece Paige, my sister Valerie and a friend, Dorian. My friend Conrad did their make-up and taught them to walk the walk.

I met Nelson Bird from Indigenous Circle at the show and asked me to be on his last show of the season, which I did. I was on Indigenous Circle last weekend. It will be airing again this summer again if you missed it.

Remember I did the audition for Dragons Den, well they called. I will be flying to Toronto May 21st to tape for the show May 22nd. I will be walking down the gauntlet to request some dollars and seek a wise business partner. I’m looking forward to it. I will be taking my niece, Paige, and Dorian to model for me on the show. Wish me luck.

Below are places you can find me for the month of April:

International Market (beside the Farmers Market)
Ave B and 19th Street
Every Saturday
8am – 2pm

Awasis Conference
April 29 – May 1
Saskatoon Inn

Whats New?

Mar 21 — 0 comments

tansi,

I have been doing some pretty kewl things lately and wanted to fill you in on some of them:

Photo Shoot – March 7, 2009
tansi clothing did a small photo shoot with three aboriginal models from Saskatchewan. I also video taped the shoot to capture another side of tansi clothing.

Dragons Den – March 19, 2009
I did my five minute spiel on why tansi clothing should be on the show. The opportunity to be on Dragons Den would be a good thing for tansi clothing. I will find out in May if I am invited to be on the show. I will let you know what happens.

Aboriginal Youth Ideas Challenge – March 19, 2009
I entered a business plan competition put on by SIFE, a non-profit organization run by university students. I placed second but the most important aspect was the small exposure for tansi clothing.

Videos Posted – March 20, 2009
During my last photo shoot I hired a friend to take a video of the shoot. The videos are now posted on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/tansi-clothing/37305959923 and YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/tansiclothing Check out the videos and please let me know what you think. I value and appreciate your feedback.

Photo Shoot – March 22, 2009
tansi clothing will be taking more pictures of the final clothing for the website. The pictures will be up on the website later next week.

Fashion Show – April 4, 2009
tansi clothing has been invited to partake in the fashion show at the FNUC Regina Powwow April 4th. Keep an eye out for me and my models. I will see you there.

tansi clothing update

Feb 02 — 1 comments

tansi,

Demand for tansi clothing is crazy. We have officially run out of inventory with a few remaining peace shirts. I will have new inventory very soon. I did not expect my last customer to purchase every item last Friday.

tansi clothing is making a few changes:

  • tansi clothing will no longer carry cotton fabrics; but rather, we will only carry bamboo and organic cottons. tansi clothing has made the choice to go green. We want to do our small part to protect the environment.
  • tansi clothing will be introducing a new word/saying.
  • The website will have a slightly different look.
  • tansi clothing will soon be offering messenger bags.

All changes will be completed by the end of February.
